Public Health

Department of Public Health is one of the most demanding departments in the FCUB. It is committed to provide high quality education and training in public health and in various emerging and reemerging health issues. Department of Public Health offers the Master of Public Health (MPH) and Bachelor of Public Health (BPH). Department of Public Health is dedicated to ensure quality education and capacity building related to biomedical aspects of the vulnerable people.

Vision

To recognize the department of Public Health of FCUB as the leading institution for providing Public Health professionals with skills and expertise necessary to improve the health status and quality of life in developing countries like Bangladesh.

Mission

·         To develop skilled Public Health professionals to meet society’s interest in assuming conditions in which people can lead a healthy quality life.

·         Provide quality education to think critically and creatively to solve Public Health related problems.

·         Enhance research skills for new insights and innovative solutions to meet various challenges.

·         Contribute to develop proper skills to communicate ideas and views clearly and effectively using multi-disciplinary approaches.

Course contents and duration of MPH program:

The MPH program offers 7 core courses, 40 elective courses/optional courses. Total credit hours: 52

Semesters: 3-4 semesters for regular batch and 5-6 semesters for Friday and evening batch.

Total courses:

1.   Core courses: 7 (19 credits)

2.   Elective courses: 8 (13 credits)

3.   Optional courses: 3 (6 credits)

4.   Dissertation courses: 1(10 credits)

5.   Internship/practicum: 1(3 credits)

The Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) program offers 48 courses.

Total credit hours: 140

Semesters: 12 semesters.

Duration: 4 years.

Total Courses: 44 (132 credits)

Dissertation: 1 (5 credits)

Internship: 1 (3 credits)
